Оn August 23th at 6:00 PM, a the concert on the occasion of the Independence Day of Ukraine took place at the White Hall of The House of Black Heads.It is worth mentioning that the concert was organised by the Congress of Ukrainians of Estonia in cooperation with the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Estonia. The concert featured performances by Ukrainian students and their friends from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theater, including Kateryna Fyl, Maksym Trotsenko, Daniel and Samuel Allan-Chapkovski, Vanda Kozub and Veronika Buyalo.
Illia Humeniuk conducted Chamber Choir Avis Animi in a programme that beautifully blended Estonian and Ukrainian choral traditions. The concert included Mykola Leontovych's "Dudaryk", Oleksandr Koshyts' "Ponad synim morem" (commemorating the 80th anniversary of his death) and Anatolii Avdiyevskyi's "Verbovaia doshchechka". The programme also included parts of Veljo Tormis' cycle "13 Lyric Songs", creating a harmonious fusion of Ukrainian and Estonian cultural elements.
