Female Chamber Choir Muusad (conductor O. Pürg) joins forces with Ukrainian conductor Illia Humeniuk presented a unique program blending Western music with Hindu legends.
Two pieces in the program are inspired by the image of the Black Madonna — Nigra sum by P. Casals and Litanies à la Vierge Noire by Fr. Poulenc, his very first sacred composition. The spotlight is also on Gustav Holst. At the concert got performed his beautiful eight-part Ave Maria and selections from powerful Hymns from the Rig Veda. The concert also featured music from North America: Magnificat by C. Donkin for 12-part choir and soloist, and Sunset by C. Demarest, a dreamy piece for harp (Marietta Mark) and organ (Olga Opryshko).
